Program Manager, AI Initiatives
Connie Steel serves as the Program Manager, AI Initiatives.
She advances Yale’s artificial intelligence strategy for campus-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary collaborations. In this role, Connie oversees efforts expanding research infrastructures, delivering secure access to GenAI, and building human expertise and relationships that support research and education.
As Program Manager, AI Initiatives, Connie administers the AI at Yale seed grant program, convenes the AI at Yale Symposium, and provides communications and strategy support to the Associate Provost for Academic Initiatives. She provides guidance and trainings on AI tools to Yale departments and communities of practice. Additionally, she engages directly with AI thought leaders, service providers, and users to foster interdisciplinary discourse around AI’s opportunities and challenges for research, preservation, teaching, and practice.
Connie serves on the AI Platform Advisory Group, the AI Governance Committee, the AI Faculty Working Group, and the Yale Center for Creative Arts and Media (CCAM) Advisory Board.
Before joining Yale, Connie managed a flagship dual enrollment program for core writing courses at the University of Texas at Austin. She grew the program from pilot to a scale of 6,500 students per year leveraging educational technology, data science, and communities of practice to support student and instructor success.
Connie holds a BS in International Studies from Drexel University and an MA and PhD in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
