Body:
Please join us on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. (for pre-tenure faculty) or from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. (for tenured faculty) at the School of Management, Room 2220 (165 Whitney Avenue) for our faculty workshop, Negotiation Skills for Women Academics with Rena Seltzer. Negotiation Skills for Women Academics (2-hour workshop) Women tend to ask for less than their male counterparts and the consequences of this difference can add up to be a serious disadvantage over the course of a female academic’s career. Not just in salary, but in many other areas, there are benefits to be gained by negotiating and risks in failing to negotiate. In this interactive workshop attendees will practice thinking expansively about what can be requested and will learn strategies used by the most successful negotiators.  This program is being offered twice - once for pre-tenure faculty members and once for tenured faculty members. Rena Seltzer is president of the coaching and training business Leader Academic and author of The Coach’s Guide for Women Professors: Who Want a Successful Career and a Well-Balanced Life(Stylus). Her workshops combine well-researched information with fun, interactive activities and practical tools that participants remember and continue to employ long after the workshops are over. This will be her fifth year presenting professional development workshops to Yale Faculty members.
