Opelo Matome was born and raised in Gaborone, Botswana and graduated from Yale College in 2018 with a BA in Economics. As an Economics major, she most enjoyed learning about institutional design, economic history, and using econometric analysis to examine social issues. Whilst in Yale College, Opelo served as Vice President of the African Student’s Association and wrote poetry. She is currently a Trumbull College Fellow and First-Year College Advisor. Opelo is passionate about education as a means of transformation at both the individual and national level. Following graduate school, she plans to work at the intersection of higher education, law, and strategy. After work, you can find Opelo running in East Rock Park or catching up with friends!
