Emily Bakemeier, Deputy Provost for the Arts and Humanities, has primary responsibility for the Humanities Departments and Programs in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences as well as for the professional schools of Art, Architecture, Drama, Music, and Divinity. Additionally, she oversees the Institute for Sacred Music, the Center for Language Study, the Whitney Humanities Center, and the Center for Writing Instruction. Ms. Bakemeier’s academic area of expertise is in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century northern European art, particularly early modern French royal portraiture and iconography. She received her A.B. from Dartmouth College and her M.F.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University.
